Windows XP was released in 2001 and became almost everyone's top choice until the early to mid 2010s, when the shift to Windows 7 began. Anybody, whether they had the system or not, could recognize its iconic start-up sound and grassy hill wallpaper. It wasn't until 2014 that Microsoft ended support for Windows XP, with the last update arriving in 2019, marking its end of life.
